So Long, Mike McCarthy

Well, it finally happened. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has often found himself the target of criticism over the last few years, and this season proved to be the tipping point. The Packers were one of the favourites in the NFC early in the year, with Tony Romo even predicted them to face the Jaguars in the Super Bowl. Now, Jacksonville hasn’t been great either so maybe there’s some sort of Romo Curse, but that’s not the point right now. With the Mike McCarthy era in Green Bay coming to an end, let’s look back on his time in charge of the Packers.

Nick Mullens had a perfect NFL debut

If you hadn’t heard of Nick Mullens before last Thursday, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard of him by now. The former Southern Miss Golden Eagle made his NFL debut for the San Fransisco 49ers on Thursday night against the Raiders, in a game where Mullens wasn’t given much of a chance. Mullens was signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2017 Draft, and had never attempted a pass in an NFL game heading into his first start. While Jimmy G is still the future of the 49ers, Mullens has definitely made a name for himself in his debut.

Andrew Luck and the Colts will win the AFC South

While the Jacksonville Jaguars are the easiest team to talk about in a pretty forgettable AFC South division, the Indianapolis Colts are a team that you should keep an eye on as we enter the second half of the season. Now, I realize it’s crazy to say that a 3-5 team is one to keep an eye on, but the AFC South is up for grabs now that the Jaguars have fallen apart, and a healthy Andrew Luck could be all the Colts need to make the playoffs.

Can the Rams or Chiefs finish 16-0?

We’re officially into October, and we’re starting to see who is living up to the hype, and who can’t handle the pressure. As it turns out, kickers all around the league can’t handle the pressure. I already spent some time talking about this back in Week 2, but it seems like every week a new kicker is missing everything. This week, it was Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby who fell victim to the curse.

If Crosby had connected on all of his attempts on Sunday, those 13 points would have been enough to get the Packers a win. Instead, they fell to the Lions 31-23.

The Cleveland Browns had their best Week 1 in over a decade

The NFL season is officially in full swing, and that means that I’m back to giving you the weekly recap of some of the major headlines from the week that was. So don’t worry if you miss anything, I got you covered. Without wasting any more time, let’s get into it.

As crazy as it sounds, the Browns game was actually very entertaining to watch last week. After an 0-16 season, I wasn’t expecting to say that in Week 1, especially with Baker Mayfield still as the backup in Cleveland. Now look, I realize it ended in a tie, and yes the Browns had more than their fair share of chances to win this game, but despite everything, this is their best start to a season since 2004.
